La Tinajilla is an architecturally designed house in the centre of the village of Saleres. The house was renovated to a high standard some two or three years ago and has been used since then as a holiday let for people visiting the Lecrin Valley. The house benefits from having two facades on two separate streets so there is always plenty of light in the rooms. However, all windows have shutters to use during the hot summer months. During the renovation all ceilings, floors and the roof were replaced. In most cases, the original materials were reused so that the traditional feel of the property was not lost. Throughout the house there is electric central heating. There is one entrance which leads directly into the kitchen that has been restored using some beautiful features. The original beams from the ceiling were reused along with stronger weight bearing materials. Handmade clay tiles cover the floor on the ground floor. Set below the kitchen floor is the original Tinaja, which was used to store water. The kitchen has a range of units and shelves, along with a large white ceramic sink and antique tiles have been used as the work surface. Two steps lead from the kitchen to the Dining Room where there is a built in bookcase covering one wall. One of the other walls has the original stone exposed. Open stairs lead upstairs to the Living Room. Here there is wooden flooring, two windows out to the street and a woodburner. From the Living Room there it access to the second bedroom with en-suite. The en-suite has been furnished using expensive sanitary ware and taps. A further set of stairs lead to the master bedroom with en-suite. Again, the en-suite has been furnished using good quality materials. From this floor there is access to the terrace which has built in seating and views across the hill opposite.
